Not being able to trust your perception of reality can be terrifying, confusing, and debilitating. It disrupts relationships, careers, families, and a sense of self. You can feel hopeless—as though nobody in your life understands what you are going through. With decades of experience supporting others like yourself, Rebecca is here to help.
Rebecca Ferra took an unconventional path to becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She received her BA in Psychology in 1999 from Franklin Pierce University before working as a homeless outreach coordinator, connecting homeless individuals with mental health conditions to treatment and local resources. As her passion for mental health grew, she shifted her career focus toward residential care and became the program manager of a residential facility, supporting people with mental health conditions in their homes to achieve their maximum level of symptom management and independence. During this time, Rebecca became intrigued by the medical aspects of psychiatric care as she witnessed firsthand the power that medications have to improve lives. She went on to obtain her MSN in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire and worked as a Psychiatric Nurse from 2018 to 2021.
Rebecca became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and has been a clinician for three years in a community mental health setting. Her specialty areas include psychotic disorders, bipolar I and II disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Her commitment to excellence in mental health treatment and unwavering support for her clients stand out. Rebecca is ready to offer you experienced and empathetic care during every step of your journey toward optimal health.

Treating mental health requires more than just prescribing medication, especially when treating our children and young adults. A competent and compassionate practitioner needs to gather and assess information about the client as well as truly get to know them as a person; they also need knowledge of the childhood stages of development, including the typical behaviors of every age group, in order to properly assess symptoms of illness. Without both, how can a former or desired quality of life be achieved?
With Dawn Grist, your child and you, as a parent, will be encouraged to understand and be part of the decision-making process; to work as a team to improve your daily life experiences by lowering the negative symptoms being experienced and the negative effects of those symptoms on every aspect of life: school, work, family relationships, and friendships. Dawn can assist you by looking at the whole individual, helping to find appropriate therapies and specialist assessments while also being mindful of physical health issues that may be impacted by medication choices.
