Genetic Testing

Genomind

Genomind genetic testing involves a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes genes affecting drug metabolism and response, helping personalize medication selection and dosing for psychiatric and other conditions. It is all done from the convenience of your home with a kit shipped directly to you. You swab the inside of your cheek and then send your sample out in the mail for processing. Although this form of testing does not tell you what medication will work for you, it will provide information about how your genes respond to medications. This means we can find medications that your body responds more favorably to, alongside those that decrease the incidence of side effects or poor tolerability. It is often covered by insurance, but subject to copays and deductibles.

Genomind’s pharmacogenomic test analyzes genetic variants that influence drug metabolism and response, focusing on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic pathways. Results are provided in a report that categorizes medications into three tiers — “use as directed”, “use with caution”, or “use with increased caution and more frequent monitoring” — based on predicted gene-drug interactions.
